Sinus Lift

Critical Procedure for Dental Implant Placement

The maxillary sinus is an anatomical feature of particular importance for dental implant placement. Located above the premolars and molars of the upper jaw, the bone height often becomes insufficient for implant placement following the loss of these teeth. In such cases, a sinus lift can help create enough bone for implant placement.

What is a Sinus Lift?

A sinus lift is a surgical procedure that increases the bone height in the upper jaw by moving the internal membrane of the sinus and placing a bone graft. This allows for the growth of new bone, capable of supporting dental implants.

Sinus Lift Procedure

The procedure is performed with the following steps:
  1. Local Anesthesia: The patient receives local anesthesia to ensure they do not feel pain during the procedure.
  2. Accessing the Sinus: The dentist makes a small incision in the gums to access the sinus cavity.
  3. Membrane Lifting: The internal sinus membrane is carefully lifted to create space for the bone graft.
  4. Placing the Bone Graft: The bone graft is placed in the created space, promoting the growth of new bone.
  5. Closing the Incision: The incision is closed and the area is allowed to heal.

Advantages of Sinus Lift

  • Bone Mass Restoration: The procedure ensures there is enough bone for implant placement.
  • Improved Oral Health: Restoring the bone enhances overall oral health, allowing better function and aesthetics of the teeth.
  • Minimized Discomfort: Thanks to modern equipment, the procedure is relatively painless and recovery time is reduced.

Use of Modern Equipment

In our clinic, we use the most modern equipment for performing a sinus lift. The piezotome, a state-of-the-art tool, allows us to carry out the procedure safely, quickly, and with minimal discomfort for the patient. The procedure takes about an hour, and in many cases, it is possible to place the dental implants simultaneously.
